General information

Established in 1957, Colville Primary School is the longest serving primary school in Cherry Hinton. The school is pleasantly situated next to the local recreation ground and has generous classroom and playground facilities. A significant extension was completed in 1988 to provide excellent modern facilities for infant children. The school grounds include a wildlife area with pond, a prize winning garden, a football pitch and both grass and tarmac play areas. In 2002 a computer suite with 15 machines was completed for use by all classes.

The school offers education for children from Nursery (age 3-4 yrs) through to the end of Key Stage 2 (age 11 yrs). Children benefit from a consistent educational approach as they progress through the school.

In 2007 school year the school had around 200 full-time pupils and a further space for 52 half day Nursery pupils.’

The school was inspected by Ofsted in May 2008, 'children behave well and are happy'. Good teaching, strong quality of leadership, and a positive ethos were amongst the findings of the inspectors. (A copy of the report is available from the school office upon request; or you can download one here (PDF))
